Tommy knew from an early age that camp was his life’s work! After many summers attending and then directing camps in Ohio, Wisconsin and Colorado, Tommy started Mountain Day Camp in 2005, which evolved is now called Camp Granite Lake.
“The growth I experienced at camp influences everything I do in work and play. I wouldn’t be who I am, and I wouldn’t have my energetic and independent approach to life without it. Little did I know the influence camp was having on my life – I was just having fun!”
Tommy’s family is actively involved in life at camp. His wife, Ali, is a pediatrician. Their kids are: Joey, age 5, and Mara, age 3. They live up at camp all summer, too.

I’m a born and raised Missouri native and currently attend Southeast Missouri State University, studying Parks and Recreation. If I’m not volunteering or studying then I’m outside either cycling, hiking, taking photographs, or walking my dog, Lilly. This will be my first time living outside of Missouri and above 1,000 feet elevation. I’m excited for my first summer with Camp Granite Lake, and thrilled to share it with the campers.
Hey everyone! This will be my third summer at Camp Granite Lake and second as the Senior Village Director. I’ve spent the past school year working for the Boulder Valley School District and have even run in to a few of our campers along the way. I can’t wait to spend another summer working with our incredible staff of counselors and the amazing senior village campers! I am looking forward to more campfire pizzas, incredible Embers ceremonies an of course some Dungeons and Dragons. I’m looking forward to meeting all of our new campers and seeing some returning faces. It is going to be another incredible summer!
My name is Natalie and I am currently a freshman at Bates College in Maine, where I am interested in studying Biology or Environmental Science. I grew up in Fort Collins, Colorado, and have been hiking, skiing, and backpacking in the Rocky Mountains for as long as I can remember. I love the outdoors, traveling, cooking, and dogs. This summer I’m looking forward to spending my time outside with great campers and counselors!
Jake is returning for his third summer at CGL this June. He hails from Upstate New York and loves everything outdoors! Jake recently graduated from SUNY Oneonta where he studied Human Biology. College is where he solidified his passion for backpacking in mountains, winter camping, and making annual trips south to go canoe camping when he needed to find a little sunshine. Jake’s favorite fruit are grapes because he loves to see how many he can consecutively throw in the air and catch in his mouth. When Jake has down time, he likes to travel and take long road trips. His dream is to make it to Vermont to visit the Ben and Jerry’s factory to he can try to eat a Vermonster all by him self.
Josh Grant is a crazy, caring, adventurous sort of chap. Growing up in Colorado, he has attended summer camp or worked with summer camps almost his entire life. Originally an actor, he quit the stage in 2006 and has been teaching elementary and middle school, and working with church youth groups ever since. Josh has survived a flash flood, faced down several bears, and has sailed the ocean blue, but for him truly nothing quite compares to getting a group of kids together and helping them learn and laugh and just have fun growing together. 2016 is going to be an amazing summer and Josh truly can’t wait to come back to Camp Granite Lake!
I’m Barry and I am excited to return to Camp Granite Lake for another incredible summer. I was born and raised in the Golden State, California and currently I reside by the beach in the greater San Diego area. I am working to attain my my BA in Political Science from Arizona State University. I enjoy spending as much time as I can outdoors whether that be hiking or simply laying around and enjoying the fresh air. I am ecstatic to be back in the candid, creative, fun, and, overall, memorable environment of Camp Granite Lake.
Greetings! This will be my THIRD summer at my second home, Camp Granite Lake. Not only am I excited to be returning to CGL, I am looking forward to taking on the role as a Village Director this year! I am a Michigan native, however, I have spent this past year living in Boulder, CO, exploring and getting to know this beautiful, sunny state! Jen Kling: by winter, a philosophy professor at Siena Heights University in Michigan, by summer, a Village Director at Camp Granite Lake! When not under cover of her philosophical alter-ego, Jen loves introducing campers to different camp activities, running awesome all-camp games, and listening to the great things that campers have to say. She is the Village Director for the Intermediate campers, and also manages the lakefront, due to a short stint as Aquaman’s understudy in her youth (Jen worked for a sailing camp in Indiana for several summers in high school and college). When not creating cool camp teambuilding challenges with the greatest of ease, Jen enjoys hanging out with her daughter Kaylee, age 3, her husband Patrick, and her dog Knight (all of whom are likely superhero’s, but some of whom are not so disguised). She can’t wait to get back to camp this summer!

Tom has been working summers at Camp Granite Lake since 2011, and has been a part of the year-round team, first as Program Director, and now as Assistant Director since 2013. During the summer, you’ll frequently see Tom with a guitar in his hand leading one of his favorite camp songs, like ‘Sloopy’ or ‘Heart of Gold’. During the off season, Tom works with prospective and enrolled families, giving them tours of camp and visiting them for slideshows, as well as interviewing and hiring staff.
Tom and his wife, Jordan live in Broomfield, CO during the winter, and he enjoys playing guitar, digging through record shops, rooting for the Broncos, and running in his free time.
My name is Nick Rapp and I am from Louisville, Colorado! I grew up in Mountain View, California, but moved to Colorado right before high school and have been in love with it ever since. My name is Cooper Roslund and I am stoked to be a counselor this summer! I am a freshman at the University of Idaho in Moscow, ID and I am studying biology. I love being outdoors and surrounded by nature. My favorite things to do in the summer are mountain climbing and fishing. If there’s snow on the ground you can probably find me at the mountain hitting the slopes on my skis. I am super excited to be able to hang out with some great people this summer at camp and experience and show others the great outdoors of Colorado.
I am currently a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, an elementary education major and a minor in Spanish. I am most excited about getting to know all of you and enjoying the summer outdoors.

A lifelong camper and outdoors enthusiast, Phoebe is stoked to be returning for another fantastic summer as a cabin counselor/backpacking leader at CGL. She can’t wait to trade the sludge of Canadian “spring” for the fresh air of the Colorado Rockies!
I could not be more thrilled to spend my summer at Camp Granite Lake. I am a Georgia peach who group up in the small town of Jefferson, GA. I am currently pursuing a degree in Elementary Education (K-5) at Johnson University in Knoxville, TN. I absolutely love to do anything outdoors, and one of my favorite things to do is go hiking in the Smokies. I have spent every summer that I can remember attending summer camp, and I can’t wait to share my love for camp with the campers this year!
