Today was our first full day of our final session at Camp Granite Lake! Our day began with a delicious breakfast of pancakes, eggs and bacon. Intermediate and Senior campers then spent the morning participating in a series of team building activities with their cabin-mates. Junior campers enjoyed a morning of horseback riding as well as some team building of their own.
After lunch, Juniors had a great time shooting archery, rock climbing or making arts and crafts. Intermediates and Seniors picked their schedules for the first week with options ranging from culinary and ceramics to sailing and our new low ropes course. 20 campers signed up for our first two backpacking trips into Rocky Mountain National Park!
After some organized free time and a bountiful taco dinner, campers returned to their cabins to prepare for our evening program, Counselor Pageant. Each cabin created a character for their counselors to dress up as and then cried with laughter as their goofy counselors paraded onto stage to the introduction song of their campers’ choice. We had characters such as Dr. Dreamboat, Señorita Mariposa and Burperella answer silly interview questions and compete in a dance off. Ultimately our winners were Blue-Barry from Lake Tahoe cabin and Jimmy McSockpants from Okeechobee cabin. The campers retired to their cabins excited for their first full day of program and everything else to come this session!
