Today, we headed to Sawhill Ponds in east Boulder to fish! We caught several sunfish and even a large-mouth bass! It was very exciting–all of the campers liked petting the caught fish (before we threw them back) and looking at the wriggly worms on their fishing hooks. It was pretty hot, so we started out the day with some sunscreen and lots of water drinking. While every camper got a chance to fish, groups that were not fishing headed out to explore the ponds–we saw geese, red-wing blackbirds, and even a great blue heron! In the afternoon, we headed back to base camp, where the Chickens had a chance to mix their gorp, the Goddesses and Ninjas made recycled instruments and worked on their time capsule project, and the Griffinpuff Owls made some awesome-looking marble-ized paper. To finish off our day, we ate the gorp mixed by the Awesome…Chickens for snack and closed out our day with a classic rendition of On Top of Spaghetti.
Tomorrow, we’re headed back into Eldorado Canyon for our final day of the session! See you there!
