Campers have had a great first two days at camp.  On Day 1, we went to Morrison Nature Center, where campers kicked off summer 2014 by singing Hang on Sloopy and Tarzan, and playing Ship Island.  They made their 2014 water bottles and stayed well hydrated while hiking around the nature preserve.  We ended the day by singing Neil Young’s Heart of Gold and Old Man.

On Tuesday, campers rode the bus to Barr Lake, entertaining themselves with spirited conversations, and lots of rock, paper, scissors, along the way.  Campers hiked hard, traveling as far as the 1.2 miles out to the Gazebo, where they could view the bald eagle’s nest.  On the way, they saw all kinds of wildlife, including mule deer, carp, great blue herons, egrets, red winged blackbirds, and a wide range of bugs and spiders.  They also had their first day of archery, which we’ll do again next Monday when we return to Barr Lake!
